Return to List City of Alexandria Government Closed Tuesday February 9;

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the City of Alexandria from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening, with 10 to 20 inches of additional snow possible, and near-blizzard conditions. Due to the current forecast, road conditions, and ongoing recovery efforts, City of Alexandria government facilities and all normal government operations will be closed Tuesday, Feb 9. All emergency and support personnel for emergency conditions are required to report on time to support Alexandria’s emergency operations.
Alexandria City Public Schools will also be closed on Tuesday.
Both City and Schools operations may close on Wednesday, depending on storm conditions. A determination will be made and announced on Tuesday.
The following City facilities and services will be affected:
* All recreation centers, libraries, museums, and other non-essential City facilities will be closed.
* All City meetings and activities are cancelled on Tuesday, February 9.
Alexandria Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts will be closed.
* Trash and recycling collection is canceled on Tuesday, Feb 9. Trash and recycling collection will occur the following week on Tuesday, Feb 16.
